On our way into Colorado, we drove through this canyon at night, so nothing could prepare us for the utterly awesome beauty of this area when we went back through it during the day. These pictures were taken from a rest area that we stopped at for a snack break. I wish we had more time to stop at other places, because there were many more pictures to take... oh well, next time...

Hot dog!!! On the bottom left is the Colorado River. When we drove up to the rest stop, a lady was going down to the bank to do some fly fishing. She was catching fish left and right! Oh My God! They were beautiful Rainbow Trout, with large speckles and brilliant striping! I sure wish I had my fly fishing gear with me then... Anyway, she fished the eddy's along the bank, maybe 8 to 10 feet from shore, using a nymph that she sank a few inches into the water. She was pulling out 18 inchers! Yikes!

This is a promontory rock face just across from the parking lot. I took this picture from our picnic table. What a view!

Didi and Triona had a great time picking up rocks and exploring the river bank!

I'm going to crop the road at the top and blow up the large format version of this shot. The light was just right to allow me to play with the shading a bit later.

Here's Mr. Cool, Brian, soaking up the rays. What a handsome boy he has become... By the way, we're looking to get him into modeling.
